For the past four years, Fastway’s main role as a partner is to collect and send merchandise to individuals and businesses across Australia during May, and last year we delivered over 500 merchandise boxes. We also hold a number of fundraising events around the network including BBQs in the depot, encouraging staff and Courier Franchisees to donate.
MS affects many young people, especially women as the average age of diagnosis is 30 and there’s currently no cure. Some members of our network, as well as their family and friends, were affected by MS so we saw the importance of supporting their campaign, and hence began our partnership with them in 2013.
Each year, Kiss Goodbye to MS calls on supporters to wear red, to get out of their comfort zone or share the message by holding a fundraising event in order raise awareness and reach their fundraising goal. The amount raised has increased steadily, with 2015 being their biggest year to date, as over $1 million was raised for MS Research Australia. The campaign is now on a global scale with France, Denmark, Ireland, New Zealand, Sweden, Greece and the United States joining in this year.
This year, the Franchise Support Office joined in on the fun by hosting a morning tea. Both Fastway Couriers Sydney and Brisbane held their annual BBQ, with LDV, an international van manufacturer, kindly sponsoring the Sydney event for a second year. Other than creating awareness for this cause, we managed to raise close to $1000 in total.
